Overdrive – The Final Nightmare – Pure Rock Records

Back from NWOBHM.

Not to be confused with one thousand of other bands with the same name, Overdrive is a band from UK that made part of the original NWOBHM (they recorded a demo in 1978 and a single in 1981) but failed to make a breakthrough album but they managed to survive until 1994. Ten years after they returned and now they show us an old-timer and honest rock n roll album.

They work at the Deep Purple mode, I mean the current Deep Purple (the voice of David Poulter even remembers Ian Gillan in a rocker track like Twist my Mind)

They made all hells break loose with the Saxon-esque Wasted, solid heavy metal sound with oldest school feeling to it appealing to rapid riffs, violent drums, this is pure rock metal lemme say! I love the vocals in this one as well.

Another good number is Tice Shy where solos and keyboards interchange themselves in a good and simple form to make music. Pure organic sounds, no gimmicks, just rock!

The hard/heavy of Lost on A Montain is very promising and they don’t betray!

I think the only thing I’d change is the cover of Henry Fuseli which is nothing original.

All in all The Final Nightmare is not an album that will change the history of rock. THAT’S THE IDEA!

The Final Nightmare is out now on Pure Rock Records.
