Ukraine masters are back!
For those who are into Slavic Black Metal, Blood of Kingu is no new name because it has members of cult bands as Astrofaes, Hate Forest and Drudkh. This fact alone was enough to make this a great release. But Blood of Kingu don’t sleep on their laurels.
The album is crowded with sure-fire riffs, repetitive drumming, infernal attacks of all sorts!
After a short intro Crowned Scarlet Moon Is Waiting For Eclipse starts with a muddy sound that permeates the whole CD with guttural vocals and menacing black metal riffs. Although the songs do change phrases, variations of tempo are imperceptible.
He Who Is Not To Be Named is even more ominous taking no prisoners in their quest for black metal perfection.
The Bringer Of Pestilence is strangely a black metal version of Nile. Disgraceful and not for the faint of heart for sure! This track is heavier than the others, an unusual approach in Black Metal nowadays!
The Cycle Returneth packs the album with almost the same tempo as the other songs, so one can conclude this album is for those who don’t like drastic changes of tempo.
Dark Star on the Right Horn of the Crescent Moon is already a classic of the style and if you’re a fan of the bands from the Eastern Europe, you cannot lose this album!
Dark Star on the Right Horn of the Crescent Moon is out now on Season of Mist.
