Two sides of the same coin.
This little split shows two distinct bands, the hyped Planned for Burial and the underrated Liar in Wait.
Planning for Burial has a plenty of releases (I believe they are active since 2010) and their sound is a boring shoegaze, hence their success to the masses of non-rockers, guitar-haters, sentimental-lovers. They draw influence for the overrated shoegaze scene and it seems that today rock is synonymous of that kind of music: it’s sad because this one man project it’s minimalist, has a poor production, and yet people think it’s the ultimate thing in rock music.
On the other hand the HONEST Liar in Wait don’t claim to be “post-anything”, they fairly declare their love for the gothic scene of the 1980’s and some coldwave music. It’s heavily influenced by Bauhaus, Sister of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Echo & the Bunnymen and the likes. Although not really in my field of action, it’s a pity they’re so underestimated by the great public and I would like to hear more of them.
Bottom line: Broken Limbs thought the two bands were similar, but they were not. The good thing is that you are compensated by hearing a bad band with another good one.
