OCTOBER 31 – Bury the Hatchet – Hells Headbangers

Underground heavy metal from US.

For those in the real game of underground, October 31 is not exactly a new name. Besides they have a dedicated cult following in the underground.

But is that justified?

Their sound is very “metal punk” with hints of Venom rather than traditional heavy metal or speed/power metal, even so they say they are trad metal. If one considers Venom to be a part of NWOBHM (which they actually are), so they are trad.

The case in question here is that even dedicatedly spinning this album some 10 times, one can find no hookers. Of course there are two tracks that I can remember which are Growing Old and Gone to the Devil. Could be possible that my short memory is failing? Personal medical matters apart, that is the case, and it’s strange that it occurs with a band that has a simple musical approach. The matter is: They like to rock, they are good at that, but they just do it for the sake of making lots of noise. As soon as you stop listening to them and move to something else, the songs disappear from your mind.

Well I’m not complaining, but I’m not praising their efforts as well. If you want noisy metallic guitar sounds to celebrate with beers, women, or if you just want to bother your neighbor, this CD will do the trick.

Bury the Hatchet is out now on Hells Headbangers
