Aosoth / Order of Orias – Split 12″MLP – W.T.C.Productions

When France and Australia collide… OR When two big countries join SATANIC FORCES!

Aosoth

Aosoth, the PURE cult from France is releasing a split album with the excellent Order of Orias from Oz, and the final cut couldn’t be more superb!

Appendix B, I suppose, is the continuation of Appendix A from the split with American band Kommandant. Everything leads to the conclusion that the Appendix C is going to be released yet this month. I’m freaking genius, ain’t I?

Each band contributes with one track and each track is more than 10-minutes long.

The Aosoth track is a chaotic song from nihil to create a musical atmosphere of lawlessness and destruction: guitars are tuned and recorded in a way that the listener gets total and brutal nauseous feelings of infinite vortex. As the track is lengthy and the listener, inferring that Aosoth makes iterations throughout the track, gets surprised to discover that this is a kind of Progressive Black Metal, now why labels suck: it’s simple: because I have to explain myself every single time and here I go again… No, Aosoth didn’t appeal to the last resort of Opeth-ness. They really accelerate their Black Metal, de-accelerate by the middle of the song and turbo-charge it again in order to power up the side effects of the work. Rich and opulent over again Aosoth wins over the minds and souls of the metal slaves.

Order of Orias in its turn, presents something a little less intense in velocity but equally intense in thickness: this is Black Metal, period! But it is a middle tempo onslaught, leaving the atmosphere very “heavy” and I’m not talking about metal. The feeling of darkness-over-human inside the room is so severe that this is capable to alter the mood of the listener from happiness to suicide. The song starts very snail-paced to a brutal lament of satanic ratio then it suddenly stops and starts over again… It’s like a twofold nightmare. Great, great band and I’m sure that they are the winner in the contest of unknown bands in my book.

You must listen to this split for two simple reasons apart of the two bands being great: the first is that the two songs don’t sound like studio leftovers used simply to be released to promote the group, as in the time being the ensemble is not releasing something proper… each band treats this release as a “normal” release. The second one is that the very length of the split (clocking in at 24 minutes) makes it a proper “mini album” to be degusted while one is in a dark room full of despair and hate for mankind.

Aosoth / Order of Orias Split 12″MLP will be released T.O.M.O.R.R.O.W. on  W.T.C.Productions

Black Witchery + Revenge (Canada) – Holocaustic Death March to Humanity’s Doom – split MLP/MCD – Nuclear War Now! Productions

The cult of annihilation is alive‼‼

BW-Revenge-covers-together

The uncompromising cults of Black Witchery and Revenge unite forces in this killer split album that is the wet dream of any necroheadbanger of the face of the Earth.

Honestly, this is what I call perfection in form of music.

The Black Witchery side kicks off with their usual form of putrid Black Metal or Blackened Death Metal if you will. The three songs, Black Death Conjuration, Curse of Malignancy and Profanation Triumph are snappy, fast, short, the embodiment of the nuclear war a là Blasphemy and Conqueror. There’s no pause for rest, lashings of mystical atomic devastation are propelled with high-pitched guitar solos and insanely brisk drumming. No quarter!

The Revenge side counts with only one long song, which is fact two inside one: the first part is a composition of theirs called Humanity Noose with bellows from the abyss where adrenaline runs rampant. Revenge is the tits! Some atomic intervals with some “uh” a la Tom Warrior lead the song to a heavily mid-tempo session, just to return again to the velocity. The vocals are so putrid it smells. It’s pure guttural satanic cult that is NOT for neophytes. I couldn’t expect less from this Canadian Ross Bay Cult! The second part of the song is a cover of Bathory: Equimanthorn. Their version is totally heavier than the original and the only nod is the final part when the “chorus” Equimanthoooooorn is sung. Perfect and exciting.

When I saw this release I knew what to expect without even listening to it. But I did so almost 20 times to make myself sure of a dream coming true: two institutions of the most extreme form of real and organic metal together! If something else is necessary to say to convince you that this is the best release of 2015 so far, so I politely ask you: go fuck yourself! The cult is alive!

Cara Neir / Venowl – Split – Broken Limbs

This split is really, really obscure.

ven-split-cover

Released on tape, it features three short tracks of the black metal outfit Cara Neir and the putrid funeral drone metal Venowl.

Cara Neir follows that blasé tendency to sound avant-garde, but they are just a mediocre black metal/crust band. Of course they like to embellish it with some labels like NEOCRUST (facepalm), sludge, blackened crust and things like that. I’m not taken.

Venowl is very, very putrid, and as a friend from Australia would say: “Now ya talkin’”. Raw and droneful funeral black metal with plenty of feedbacks that will not amuse your girlfriend in a romantic moment. This one is for hardcore fans of illuminated music from the abyss. Their single track clocks in at almost 22 minutes of pure woe. PERFECTION.

Now the important information: as of today, this demo is sold out by the guys of Venowl (you can only buy a digital copy of their track of the split). You can find 5 copies in the Bandcamp of Cara Neir with the both bands (of course) or you can get the digital copy for free, but only their three tracks. Follow below the addresses for those interested:

Cara Neir (Bandcamp): http://caraneir.bandcamp.com/album/split-with-venowl

Venowl (Bandcamp): http://venowl.bandcamp.com/album/cara-neir-venowl

Pay attention because if you lose that you’ll find copies only in the black market for abusive prices from scammers.

ARKONA / ILLNESS – Klucz Do Istnienia / Zaraza – Godz Ov War Productions

Split with cult bands from Europe.

Arkona and Illness are releasing this great split. Note: The Arkona here is the Polish one and not to be confused with the more famous Russian band Аркона.

Arkona side contains the track Klucz Do Istnienia that is the embodiment of the Polish Black Metal! Traditional and vicious, the attack is fast with old school black metal riffs! The drumming is as fast as the speed of light, great number. It’s a pity that it is only one track!

But the band Illness don’t let us down: formed by guys of Masachist, this track Zaraza starts with a Slayer-like approach just to  explode into an all-out war of brutal black metal with changes of tempo that makes this track very interesting, merging death and black metal schools. The final part though, has a bit of melodic black metal in the vein of Limbonic Art.

A truly great split of special bands, this release is a portal to the other works of both acts. Try and get it!

Atara Vs. Miserable Failure – Hang Them – Kaotoxin

Double shot of grindcore from France!

This release is what I call true grindcore! Two bands, 18 minutes of pure and merciless brutality to bleed poser ears, this is a delight to the extremists!

First band Atara, attacks with shortest songs, one after another and while there are no highlights I can securely say they do their work with fervor to deliver their dystopian word of pure aggressiveness! Harsh production, punkish and quasi-black metal approaches in a mincecore basis, the desperation and urgency will take you by assault leaving no prisoners.

Notwithstanding, Miserable Failure is the band that will shoot you in your tracks: noise core with grind makes them a confluence between Aghathocles and Sore Throat, this shit is really disgraceful: nihilistic cacophony to wreak havoc in the brutal turf of extreme moshpit. Not for the virgin ears to the style.

This is an ACE release limited to 1000 copies with no possible re-release, so run and get your copy or lose these two great attacks! Totally indicated!

Hang Them are out now on Kaotoxin.

DESTRUKTOR / THRONEUM – A Prophecy of Nihilism (Split 7″) – Hells Headbangers

Killer split for brutal and insensitive headbangers!

No quarter and no compromise!! Fuck off the universe! This is the message that Destruktor and Throneum carry out together with this split 7” that was made to destroy the denizens of the world with nuclear hate!

This opus has only two sounds, the Destruktor song, called Besieged is a demonstration of non-stop brutality into the pure death/black mode resounding  Angelcorpse and other bands of the style. The drumming is unmerciful, pounding all the way through the sonic waves of cataclysmic rifferama to pollute this world with warlike despair in an ocean of disgracefulness. Non plus ultra!

Throneum and its song Chtonian Lust sounds a little bit more old school, with an introduction alike Sepultura’s Necromancer, and the sound is an encyclopedia of influences raging from Sarcófago to Beherit and Blasphemy. It’s kind of impossible to ignore their oxidized sound that cuts the eardrums like an old razor. A hellrazor of course.

This EP is for the most dedicated and die-hard fans of the style ONLY. Poseurs, don’t even try or you’ll get busted.

A Prophecy of Nihilism (Split 7″) is out now on Hells Headbangers.

Throne of Sacrilege / Impurium – Unleashing a Cacophony of Destruction – Orchestrated Misery Recordings

Clogged split.

This split album with two bands Throne of Sacrilege and Impurium is a strange business to be honest.

This is noisy for sure, but analyzing directly they are different kind of monsters, one in a good and another in a bad way.

Throne of Sacrilege is very noisy, practicing a death black assault but it seems that they have no inventiveness… they all sound the same, like “hey let’s board the death/black train to see what happens”. After hearing the three tracks one gets to the conclusion that they aren’t the ultimate names of the genre.

But Impurium came to save the day: their sound is much better than Throne of Sacrilege, with actual songs in it, in a mix of death/black thrash, really cool as in the first song Again We Freeze that is really enticing, with various changes of tempos and indeed, styles into just one song.

Midgard has raspy guitars, very underground, and although one can notice the technical limitations of the band, their music still rocks and nukes with genuine nuclear hate for the humankind. The drumming fills the place with greatness and their sound is pure heaviness thanks to the production. I love the lyrics as well, something like. AHHHH, AHHHH, AHHHH, very philosophical indeed. Over again by the last part of the song they go from death/black attack to pure thrash metal, a great idea, let me say… over again they explode into death/black attack.

The last song Ad Secular Impurium starts a little despondent, but it ends up being a brutal metal number in atomic proportions.

The conclusion: Throne of Sacrilege tries and doesn’t get to make quality music as Impurium does! Even though making the very same type of music. An interesting split however.

Unleashing a Cacophony of Destruction  is out now on Orchestrated Misery Recordings.
